Escaped to Arkansas for the Week

A few weeks ago, we took a trip to Glenwood, Arkansas with Preston's family for his 30th birthday. I couldn't believe it was only a 6 hour drive to get to the mountains!

The cabin was located right on the Caddo River. We were able to kayak, fish, and swim to our hearts content. If you are in the Caddo River area of Arkansas, you’ve got to get a kayak or tube and float a few miles down the river. It is so much fun! We also took one day to hike to different mountaintop outlooks. I highly recommend Rattlesnake Ridge and Flatside Pinnacle Vista Point to watch the sunset.

Hot Springs, AR is only about 45 minutes away from Glenwood. We had lunch at the Fisherman’s Wharf, and took a trip to the Garvan Woodland Gardens where the beautiful Anthony Chapel is housed. The architecture was stunning! We didn’t have a chance to check out the shops or bath houses in Hot Springs (maybe next time).

After immersing ourselves in nature for a week, our souls felt renewed and ready to come back to realty. About 3 hours into the drive back home our truck broke down….Just our luck. Thank God Preston’s sister happened to live nearby so we could stay the night and my angel mother-in-law picked us up and brought us back home. Never been so happy to be home!

Not the best ending to our trip, but hey, it makes for a great story.

I hope you are enjoying your summer and spending it with the ones you love most!

Cheers
